update to the update to the update

Um...yeah. So I forgot I'm poor. I was really hoping to have the $50 gift card out to the lucky winner for Christmas, but it's not meant to be, apparently. Being underpaid has its disadvantages. But rest assured, dear winner, whoever you are, you will get your gift card. Just not when I had hoped. So, again, apologies. 'Tis the season for being broke.

There's a reason, though, that I wanted to do this. Since starting my writing journey, I've depended on the kindness of people I've never met to help me on my way. It started at PenWrights, and still happens there, though the traffic has died down considerably now. Then I found Blogger and QT and all the wonderful people who have helped me in the most difficult parts of the querying process (like writing the query, and then making it good), and then being there as support when I get my rejections. This is a way to just say thank you and hope that the new people who follow just because of the contest find similar solace and support as they journey toward publication. So, though subsequent contests won't be so awesome, I figure I should start with a bang, right?

I'm already plotting a Valentine's or 50 followers giveaway (whichever happens first). So...yeah. Thanks for understanding.

Isn't "Poor" most writers' middle name? It's mine, too. Le sigh.

Hang in there, and keep writing! :-)

Thanks, Deb. And yeah, it is. I remember seeing on the forums somewhere that MaryL said most advances were "only" $4000. Automatically, my brain shot to things I could pay off or almost pay off with $4000.

Now, if I could just get my foot in the door without someone slamming the door on it.

Tis the season where most everyone is broke. It's what I like to think of as "Couch Fishing Season." I also like to dive for washer prizes. Perhaps you'll have the same luck? :-)

My sympathies. I completely understand though. (Completely broke)

I just discovered your blog through Laura's post. Looks great. I'll add you to my regular blogs to visit. Have a great holiday. Hope fortune finds you soon. :) BTW - I think the world is broke at the moment, so I wouldn't worry. :)

You guys are incredibly sweet. Thank you :)

Totally understandable, but it's sweet that you want to give big, even if it's not possible. You have a big heart!

This only makes me want to hug everyone. Maybe when I have money (since I refuse to be this poor ever again), I'll round everyone up for a weekend in Hawaii ;)
