Six Sentence Sunday 4/03

Hey y'all! Six Sentence Sunday is here again :D As always you can find my fellow Six Sunday participants here. And you can sign yourself up for next Sunday by following the blog. And you should. Because it's AWESOME.

I'm going to be pushing Duality for a while, even though I've a few gems from Spark that I can't wait to share with y'all. I do so very much love my narrators.

Here's this weeks Six Sentences. I'm so excited that my beloved leopard mix, Sydel, is involved now. She's honestly one of my favorite characters, and I hope that she becomes one of yours as well. This part comes after a nice description of Sydel. Kind of a contrast, I guess. Unfortunately, the nice description is three sentences too long...

Here we go:

But she didn’t have claws. Looking at her broken nails, I wondered how she had survived. How did she climb trees or dig? How did she fight? From what I had already experienced, claws were crucial.
            How was she still alive?

Nice! I am picturing a human version with nerve-bitten nails. Scared, overwhelmed perhaps. I love how you are able to humanize your creatures, without making them sound too human!

Nice snippet!

Interesting snippet. But even with this you get a good sense of the character.

very interesting, indeed. How did she survive? I could feel his sense of confusion, nice six!

Well, human ingenuity will always prevail, even without claws. You do give your characters a lot of humanity. Very nice.

Sounds like we do need to hear how she survived. Someone's got balls. ;)

Great six. What happened to her claws?

Lovely six that tells the reader a lot about both characters.

Thanks guys! Sydel is one of my favorite characters in the book, possibly in the whole series (which is in my head; book 2 is partially outlined). Sydel never had claws. She's still pretty human, especially compared to the MC. Thinking abt making character pages for them (mostly because I'm bored at work). What do you guys think?

Very enticing! I look forward to reading more. :)

I've started character pages for mine, but haven't finished them yet.

Definitely makes me want to know more. How HAD she survived? Why were her nails all broken. Thanks for that six!

All really great questions! Can't wait to get the answers!

She must have other skills to compensate for the lack of claws. :)

Flawed characters are always more interesting and easier to root for.
