Oh wow.

OK. I'm gaining more followers. First of all, thanks to those who have recently decided to keep up with my insanity. I still have issues believing anyone wants to read this, but apparently, 18 of you do. So...um, I'm gonna have to think of something special to do for you guys. Feel free to leave ideas in the comments. Since I'm not very well-connected *yet*, any contests, giveaways, what-have-you might be a little random and completely non-writing-related.

When I'm agented, I promise I'll be a lot more fun ;)

And now, onto relevant topics.

I have restarted personal training, and in light of Nathan Bransford's post on exercise being good for writers, too, I felt the need to throw my hat into the ring.

No. I do not feel more creative after a work out. I'm exhausted and craving carbs. There. I said it.

I love working out, though. The adrenaline flow is great. The feeling of accomplishment. The bickering with my personal trainer. It's fun for me. The next-day soreness, not so much. Or the diet. But the actual working outing is great. I recommend it.

I have lots of reasons for it, which I won't delve into here. One of the most important for me is, as Nathan mentioned, getting out of my writing cave. I don't socialize as much as I used to, so I definitely enjoy the banter with my PT 2 days a week. He's the one who introduced me to Jimmy Fallon as Neil Young singing "Pants on the Ground" and "Whip My Hair." I laughed until I cried.

I guess the point of this inane ramble (forgive me; I've had about 5 hrs of sleep) is that we need to engage with people who aren't living inside our heads. After all, we need people to base our characters on, right? ;D

***Also, for the curious ones, I got my 12th rejection today. A form. Better than no response, I guess. One more to make it lucky number 13. Then I can close out this round of querying.***

Nineteen! I get lots of inspiration on my morning hike with my *cough* nine dogs. Today the snow was falling and my Novel's playlist was on the Ipod and voila! Rewritten first scene. Is it better? Who the hell knows!? But I am blundering through some of the questions and issues I had about it in my head. I quit querying after 7 rejections and am terrified to start round 2. Good luck!

Thanks, Roberta!!!

I'm glad you're getting some writing done. I need to pop in my novel's playlist and get some inspiration back :D

All I can say about round 2 is that if you don't jump, you'll never know if you'll fly. Don't be afraid to jump. We accomplish nothing by standing around fearing what we consider "failure."

Best of luck to you!

They say query in batches of six. If you get no initial responses work on the query letter. I say tighten the first 5 words (that is my theory.)

Elaine, I have a new query (thanks to the phantastic Phoenix Sullivan [see what I did there?]) that I'm anxious to send out. Unfortunately one of the agents I really wanted got crappy query #1.

Hahaha! I feel exhausted after working out too!

I'm a follower now. ;)

R's are a pain--don't give up because of them though (um, cuz if you do, then I should've quit a long time ago...yeah, I got so many rejections it wasn't even funny. I sure learned a lot though. I might even be query ready again in the coming months after a year plus of practicing).

I see that! Thanks, Laura!

Rs are definitely a pain. But I'm learning that my insane stubbornness will actually pay off. I've learned more than I ever thought I'd know in the past year, so the entire process has been beneficial.

And if you give up, then...I may have to find you and beat some sense into you ;) Good luck on query road, muh dear.
